Do you remember when you had to read out loud for your parents? When I was reading a story to my mum about a big black horse (beauty) suddenly gnomes would walk into the storyline and my mum would hear a very fascinating story. Finally when I was nine years old I got diagnosed with dyslexia.

Years later someone handed me a book written by Elizabeth Gilbert named Eat pray Love.
I think this book doesn’t need an introduction. Years later it would even help me when I experienced the bathroom scene for myself.

Years later graduating Art school and my language teacher from high school brought me The book from Paulo coelho The alchemist as a gift, isn’t that funny. If it wasn’t for that teacher I would have never graduated high school and there she was years later visiting at my graduation exhibition. Handing me this book.
It is about an shepherd who has a dream. And he is going to find out about this dream taking you places and meeting beautiful and all kinds of people. The message of the book is:
“when you really want something to happen, the whole universe will conspire so that your wish comes true” If you havent read it? I highly recommend it. Another good writer is Marianne frederiksson and one of my favorite books I loved was Inge and Mira. The writer showed me more of the world without leaving my couch. It will tell you more about friendship between older women. It is about an blond swedish woman and an south American woman who fled her country Chile at the time of the military coup led by General Pinochet. After reading all of her books it inspired me so much that i flew to see Sweden and experienced the people the culture and all the beauty instead of reading about it. I got ride of my tv and i started to write in my free time and writing for me is like free therapy. But because writing isn’t enough and you can never have enough therapy I want to tell you about Byron Katie and her book Loving What Is : Four Questions That Can Change Your Life.
When you read the book you learn to question your thoughts and when you do the work you will change your way of thinking. Not easy at all but when you do the work, you will change for the better because you stop believing all your  bullshit thoughts that make you feel miserable.  Another good reason to read books, it connects. Join a bookclub or start one.

Brene Brown: She is an Texas storyteller / scientist.  I can recommend you all of her books. But
The power of vulnerability is  one is my favorites.
I like her so much because she uses her scientific knowledge and she does research in really interesting subjects witch really make a difference and shares it with the crowd without having to crush all though the data. She did the hard part for you. For example in the book she used her scientific research to figure out how to live the best soulful life and uses her data. How cool is that? Another Texas person who wrote this amazing book about his life and life lessons is matthew mcconaughey. The actor who you might know from cheesy romantic comedies and from the line: Alright, alright, alright. This book is definitely a page turner and will make you feel good and make you think about the book for days after putting it away.
The last book i want to tell you about is the Gift from Edith Eger.
I’ ve read about her in different places and numerous magazines and famous people like Oprah and Brene Brown talk about her books. Oprah said she is forever changed bij Dr. Eger’s Story. The book the Gift is not her first book and with the Gift Dr. Eger tells her message of healing and provide guidelines how to deal/ heal with the past. She survived concentration camp. But the worst prison she experienced is not the prison that Nazis put her in but the one she created for herself, the prison within her own mind. Later on in life she became an therapist and in this book she shares her discoveries she learned over her life.
There is a reason why everyone talks about her books. These books have changed me for the better. Dyslexia is no excuse to not read and it is a great way to make friends. Become wiser and more loving. It is free therapy, It can make you travel, You will meet new people. Explore the world.  It changes the way you look at the world. So dont only read because you have to. Pick up one of the books in this article and you will not regret it.
There is an app called goodreads for more good book tips.
Enjoy.

With Love,
